Multi-Stage

Multiple Effluent Evaporator

A KWS Multiple Effluent Evaporator (MEE) concentrates mixed industrial effluents — including RO reject, CETP feeds and combined textile or chemical wastewater — through a series of 2 to 5 evaporator bodies arranged to progressively reuse vapour energy. Each effect operates at a lower pressure and temperature than the previous, so the vapour generated in one body heats the next — sharply reducing steam consumption. The resulting concentrate feeds a crystalliser or ATFD for final solids capture. KWS MEE plants are engineered to handle variable feed compositions and seasonal flow variations, ensuring reliable ZLD compliance year-round.

Key Advantages

Steam reuse across effects

2 to 5 effect configuration recycles latent heat, cutting steam consumption by 50–80% versus single-effect operation.

Handles mixed effluents

Engineered for variable, multi-source feeds — RO reject, CETP streams, textile and chemical blends.

CPCB ZLD compliance

Designed to achieve near-zero liquid discharge in line with Central Pollution Control Board norms.

TVR / MVR enhancement

Thermal or mechanical vapour recompression added where steam economy targets demand it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a Multiple Effluent Evaporator different from a standard MEE?

It is specifically designed for mixed effluent streams with variable composition and fouling tendency — using forced circulation bodies and materials selected to handle high TDS, suspended solids, and aggressive chemistry.

What happens to the concentrated liquor after the MEE?

The concentrate from the MEE typically enters a crystalliser (for salt recovery) and then a centrifuge and/or ATFD for final dewatering to a dry, disposable or saleable solid.
